Appointing an Agent for Service for Alberta Corporations

All corporations in Alberta must appoint an Agent for Service.

An Agent for Service is an individual located in Alberta who can accept notices and documents in person or by mail on behalf of the corporation. The agent for service does not need to be a lawyer.

The Agent for Service can be someone directly involved with the corporation (like a shareholder, director or officer), or it can be an individual completely independent from the corporation.

The only requirement is that the individual must have an address in Alberta that can accept notices and documents in person or by mail on behalf of the corporation.

Once you appoint an Agent for Service through Ownr, a Consent Form will be automatically prepared and sent via email to the Agent for Service for signing.
