You can cancel your sole proprietorship registration or incorporation at any time before you have submitted the application in Ownr. Once you have clicked “submit” at the end of the application your request is sent directly to the government to be processed, and cannot be canceled at that point.
Cancelling a Completed Sole Proprietorship
Once your sole proprietorship registration is complete your account can be canceled, but you will be losing access to the free Ownr Dashboard, which houses important company information and registration documents. Please note that sole proprietors that register with Ownr are subject to a one-time fee only, and are not on a subscription plan.
Canceling your Ownr account does not close your sole proprietorship registration with the government. To close your sole proprietorship please contact your provincial government directly. In Ontario, you can close your existing registration by logging in to your Service Ontario online account. The log in information is provided in the Company Key document, which can be found on your Ownr Dashboard. In Alberta, you can close your existing registration through a registry agent. In BC You can close your sole proprietorship on the BC government website.
Canceling the Ownr Subscription for a Corporation
Once your incorporation is completed you may cancel your subscription at any time before it renews. Your cancellation will become effective at the end of your current annual billing period. When canceling your annual Ownr subscription, all future charges associated with renewals of your subscription will be canceled. There will be no credit or refund offered for the remaining portion of the subscription period. If you’ve already canceled, you can check how many days are left in your current billing period under Settings > Subscription of your Ownr Dashboard.
We don’t offer refunds for renewal payments after 14 days of the renewal charge. 10 days before your annual subscription renews, you will receive an email letting you know your account will renew in 10 days along with instructions on how to complete your Annual Return on Ownr.

Should you choose to cancel your Ownr subscription, we’ll be sad to see you go, but are committed to ensuring a smooth transition off the Ownr Dashboard. We would encourage you to figure out other service providers to ensure your corporation stays compliant and doesn't end up in default once you no longer have access to Ownr. You will need to find alternate services that, like Ownr, file annual and ongoing government forms, prepare ongoing corporate resolutions, manage your company’s cap table, and provide other forms of legal and administrative support. Or you will need to hire the services of a lawyer.
