Upload an existing BC Name Request

How to upload an approved Name Request from the BC Registry to your application on Ownr

Updated over a week ago

You can complete your sole proprietorship registration or incorporation in Ownr even if you already have an approved Name Request from the BC Registry. Finishing the process in Ownr gives you access to Ownr’s plan features and services.

Before you get started

When you enter your company name in Ownr, enter the name that was approved on your Name Request. An “exact match” message should appear.

Note: You'll be unable to upload the Name Request document if it is:

  • Expired

  • The wrong type of Name Request (i.e. you are attempting to upload a sole proprietorship name request for an incorporation)

  • If the email address entered does not match the one used to generate the Name Request

Verify the information on your BC Name Request document is not expired and matches your Ownr application before proceeding.

Upload your BC Name Request document

1. On the application, follow the prompts until you get to Name Reservation. You will see the BC Name Request page.

2. Click Use Existing Name Request.

3. The Select Existing Name Registration window will appear. Click Choose a File to upload your Name Request. Enter the email you used to create the Name Request in the "the applicant's email is" textbox.

The email used for the Name Request will be on the Name Request document issued by the BC Registry.

4. Click Next once you have uploaded the document and entered the correct email.

5. Follow the prompts to complete the Final Review. Then sign and submit the application.
